My work has become a multimedia exploration of the imagination, a cycle of work with one piece feeding on the previous.
Start with drawing, from this ideas emerge and fresh drawings of the imagination related to things found and experienced begin. I create bird bone figures clad in fabric and placed in glass boxes, these now become the starting point. Draw them as costumes for fantasy ballet and opera and then place in larger drawings as settings for their hidden lives, playing light against dark, relate to early cinematography. Develop full sized costumes modelled and photographed in real sets, drawing from these lead to the invention of installation rooms for the characters to live and play in.
The work is presented like film stills, inviting the viewer to engage in a dialogue, forming the beginnings and ends of the story, a cerebral experience for artist and viewer.
