Since being invited to become a Sayle Gallery Artist in 1998 Alan’s work has been on show in the Gallery in which he has also held a number of shared exhibitions.
The structures he sees in Manx towns and villages have strong appeal for him. His preoccupation with their shapes rather than the countryside is reflected in most of his work which is either in pen & wash, watercolours, acrylic or mixed media. In addition he has created a small number of Limited Edition prints available in the Sayle Gallery.
His distinctive work presents us with an uncomplicated interpretation of the subject which he simplifies and modifies to give it a structural quality.
This directness is easy to understand and gives Alan’s work freshness and spontaneity.
